Switch Studio Featured In Style At Home

You may have seen on our Facebook and Twitter pages that we were recently mentioned in Style At Home Magazine, but incase you missed it {or want to see a little more} we thought we'd share the experience with you here...

Way back at the end of December we were asked to reupholster these chairs by one of the editors at Style At Home - Needless to say we jumped at the chance!

This stunning fabric was the starting point for the makeover!  You may have seen us post this on our social media pages while mentioning an exciting project we were working on.

Once the legs were painted {by Paint It Like New of course} we reupholstered the chairs in this incredible rich purple velvet, and used that awesome print on the backs {which were not shown in the magazine feature}.

And ta da!!!  Here are the chairs in all their glory on page 31 of the June 2013 issue of Style At Home Magazine - So fun!  Don't you love them against that wall?  We do {needless to say}!

Bottle Bags Now For Sale

Have you ever gone to a party, wanted to take a bottle of something as a hostess gift, and not been thrilled with the selection of bottle bags out there?

They're either tacky, paper, or cheap looking - Don't you find?

Well, we've solved your problem, and made a gorgeous line of fabric bottle bags that are super stylish and well made {here in Canada}...

These sweet little bottle bags are a perfect way to package a gift – Wine, Margarita Mix, or even a nice bottle of Olive Oil would be a perfect fit!

Each bottle bag is made with a stylish outer layer {please note the placement of the print may vary from bottle bag to bottle bag, and some natural flaws may be found in the fabrics due to their natural material and printing process}, and have an attached grosgrain ribbon to tie in a bow. And each bottle bag is lined with a white cotton, so it’s a nice clean finish, and no raw edges are shown – After all, it’s what’s on the inside that counts, no?

Approximate size: 4” diameter {round bottom} x 12.5” tall, $20 each, and FREE shipping to Canada and the US

Wanna buy some?  We don't blame ya!  You can do so HERE!

Happy shopping!

Upholstery Feature On CHCH Morning Live

If you follow us on Facebook and Twitter, you may have seen posts about CHCH Morning Live being at Switch Studio last week.  We thought we'd share the clip just incase you missed it, but the clip won't upload, so in this case... We'd like you to "meet" our YouTube page!

You can find all of the CHCH Morning Live segments on our YouTube page by clicking HERE, as well as a couple of other TV snippets.

CHCH Morning Live was a very great experience, and Lori DeAngelis was  fabulous to work with.  We chatted about designer fabrics, what's inside of chairs, how to strip and reupholster a chair seat, before and afters, and other bits.

Did you catch it live?  What did you think?  We'd love your feedback!

National Home Show Experience

As you may know, I was a speaker at the National Home Show last week along with my friend Janet from Paint It Like New.  Today I'm going to share some of the highlights from that very fun day...

As we arrived and were walking to the stage we saw a few of these posters throughout the show floor - It was so fun seeing our faces in large print all over the place!

Janet and I with our pink ribbons to support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Which is who we were speaking in honour of and supporting throughout the show.

This was the Idea Stage where we spoke.  Our focus was on taking old furniture and making it new by using paint and upholstery {of course}, and again, it was in support of the CBCF, as they were hosting a Yard Sale For The Cure to raise money.  The two large chairs you see on the stage were up for sale, but sadly purchased before I got to them, or I would have picked them up - They were gorgeous {or well, will be when they're updated}!

During our talk, Janet and I showed live before and after projects, which the crowd enjoyed.  This chair and picture were obviously the before items.  We picked them up for under $50, and turned them into...

 Ta da!  Much better, no?

Paint It Like New sprayed them up, and of course we at Switch Studio reupholstered them.  The pink and white chair was sprayed Dove White, and the fabric is by Robert Allen - We chose the pink in honour of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation!  The grey chair was painted Kendall Charcoal, and reupholstered in a Kravet fabric.  I was inspired by the Oscars and decided to do some tuxedo pleats on both the chair and bulletin board and to add even more interest we did a crisp white piping!

We did two looks, just to show you how you can take any old piece and create something you love, whether it be fun or classic.  I think both looks turned out beautifully - Don't you?

A quick pic of Janet and I on stage chatting about all the goodness we share online.  Be sure to join Paint It Like New on Facebook and Twitter, and us at Switch Studio on Facebook and Twitter too!

After our presentations {we did two} we ran into another great gal, and friend, Leigh-Ann from Cityline!

Overall it was a perfect day, and I'm thrilled I got to participate!

I'm curious to know, did you make it to the National Home Show this year?
